Doesn't Paul mention baptism for the dead?
Once, describing what some people were doing, in an argument for the resurrection. He never commands it, and Hebrews 9:27 says judgment follows death.
In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul argues that the dead will rise. In verse 29 he asks why some are baptised for the dead if the dead are not raised at all. He says they, not we, and he neither approves nor commands the practice. It is not mentioned anywhere else in the Bible, and the Bible teaches that the time to respond to God is now.
29Or else what will they do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead aren’t raised at all, why then are they baptized for the dead?
