Who we are
MormonTok is run by Christians who believe Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. We examine the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and hold ourselves to one rule: every fact and every quotation must be real, sourced and checkable. We criticise teachings, never people.
Our name
The Church asks to be called by its full name, and its members Latter-day Saints, and we do so throughout. Mormon is the name most people search for, so it is the name of the site.
The Bible
Bible quotations are from the World English Bible (public domain), reproduced word for word. Where we compare wording with the Book of Mormon we quote the King James Version of 1611 (public domain).
The Church's scriptures and publications
Quotations from the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, the Pearl of Great Price, Gospel Topics essays and Church manuals are taken from the Church's own website, ChurchofJesusChrist.org, and every one links back to its source. Our build checks each quotation word for word against that page and refuses to publish one that does not match. We quote short passages for commentary and criticism.
History
Historical claims name their source. For the hardest topics (the First Vision accounts, the translation of the Book of Mormon, plural marriage, race and the priesthood, the Book of Abraham, DNA) we quote the Church's own Gospel Topics essays.
AI
The AI guide is an AI and is labelled AI everywhere. It never pretends to be a person.
Testimonies
We never invent testimonies. Videos are real public uploads by the people speaking, checked by a person and labelled. Stories shared on this site by members are checked by AI moderation and a person, and labelled as personal accounts that we have not verified.
Images
Our pictures are illustrations drawn in code for this site, labelled Illustration. They show no real people.
